The 21st Floor
Today was a transit day, and we drove the hour from Gyeongju to Busan.
Our first stop was a cooking class near the beach. We prepared a soup, bibimbap, and chive pancakes. There were some Hungarians and a Canadian in our class, all friendly and fun to cook with.
After our class, we checked into our Lotte brand hotel the hotel is also a department store in a busy downtown area of Busan. We roamed and went shopping in an underground mall they were selling clothing made in Korea, which is embarrassingly cheap. Jane was running out of clean shirts, but it was actually cheaper to be $8 to $10 shirts in the mall than it was to get them cleaned at the hotel.
Yeah, we take back anything skeptical we ever said about the quality of desserts in Korea. We were wrong.
After roaming the streets for a while, we decided to go to bed early in preparation for tomorrow, a big touring day. Jane and I headed back up to the room while Joel retrieved something from the car. Unfortunately, Jane and I couldn’t remember what floor our room was on, we only knew the last two digits we tried to open several floors worth of rooms with those two digits, only to finally confirm we were on the 21st floor. That’s a fact we won’t soon forget.
Off to bed. More news tomorrow!
I love the pictures of your cooking, and bebimbap is the best!
ReplyDeleteSorry--bibimbap!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely lunch y'all prepared. What a great idea to take a Korean cooking class. The dessert area appears to be worth a tour of its own!
