Take a Left at the Shooting Gallery

We skipped the classier sights of Flagstaff for the Route 66 charms of Williams, AZ.  For our first stop, we rode the mountain roller coaster.

Though nobody got to flip upside down, we all enjoyed the coaster experience.

After the coastering, we roamed around Williams for entertainment. We learned about Route 66 and did some primo shopping. We saw the Grand Canyon Railway that Woody recommended but didn’t fit into this intense compressed Grand Canyon itinerary.

Turning left past this shooting gallery to walk into town, we laughed about it before we learned they had an automatic rifle shooting gallery on the other side of Route 66.  And you don’t even have to bring your own guns.

Jane 3D printed a Hopi Kachina just like this guy for a project a few years ago.

Bizarre taffy flavors

Is this a large pen or tiny cup?

Both!
(We voted against getting these for Chris.)

I thought nothing could make smarties more repulsive but I was wrong wrong wrong.

Getting fortunes read.

We did not eat at this excessively generic Mexican food restaurant.

Stocking up for the trip.

She made this elf with twist ties in the grocery store.

This one’s for you from Jane, Chris. You’ll know why.

Delightful dinner in Williams.

After leaving Williams, we had a short and uneventful drive to Thunderbird Lodge at the Grand Canyon.  We expected to arrive to a single room with two queen beds. The room was to have faced the parking lot.  But WoW were we wrong!  They gave us two rooms with a Grand Canyon view. It’s pitch black now, but apparently when we wake up we will see the entire canyon. This is the best accident that we could have asked for!  Everybody’s very tired, and we are off to bed. Stay tuned for more Grand Canyon adventures in the morning.
